(upbeat music) - Here is the Lifestyle of longevity podcast. - We are Katy and Christine and take you with us on our journey to a long and healthy life. - First of all, Ms. Weg, we are not doctors and can not speak of medical recommendations. - We have been dealing with longevity for years and share our knowledge and experiences here. - And now it's time for the new episode. (upbeat music) (speaking in foreign language) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) - Hi, Frau Zeller. - Hi. - Hi. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - We are really very close. I'm back from Thailand. You were already in Berlin, I'm not in Berlin again, but the few days in Berlin, we have already seen each other. That was nice. - Of course. It's so alive, so in color, with touch and so on. - Yeah, it was really really nice. You brought me such a nice gift from Thailand. It's a little smell thing from which you recently told me in the podcast. And now it's always here. And it smells so great after eucalyptus and other different herbs. And it smells really good. It's always next to me. And now I'm always sniffing on it. - It's there for that. And do you have an AI of your choice asking what's exactly in there? Because it's three letters, you can't read it. - Exactly, no, I haven't done it yet. I'm just looking forward to the smell. - Yeah, I got a gift from you too, I have to say that. From your Italian holiday. We got delicious food from you. Basta and a delicious pesto and of course a nutmegat cream. So just the good things in life. - Of course. - But they won't be eaten this week. And that leads to a good one in my "What's New". Because I'm a Detox maker. - I'm curious what you're talking about. - I wanted to tell you about that. I had already told you a group of days ago when we talked about doing that. And I had already told you in one of the "What's New"s while I was in Thailand that it had already made me a little busy how toxic the everyday life is. So that's why it's much less organic. There are fewer regulations and controls when it comes to pesticides that are used there. So even if it's not organic, you don't know what limits there are. So there are limits at all. Because of the vegetable that's on it. That's why everything is scented and so on. But of course you don't get around that some chemicals come into the body. Then of course the whole exhaust, when you're on the road with the roller. And then just directly at this whole exhaust. So "E" is the "E" roller, there's a whole small pair. But that's not really a topic. So as always, you have a lot of toxins for a very long time. And I was very busy with that. And then I thought about what I could do to do something good in my body. I was in the sauna a lot there. I also have my food supplements that help with detoxification. Scraped up a little bit. Clamping up, under advice of a doctor. Clamping up to know exactly how much of what I should live there now. And now I'm back here and I thought, what can I do for my body now that I'm back here to help it later, so to speak, after the toxin load. And then my longevity A.I. coach, Vitaly, said, Vitaly said, yes, you can detox once a week. And that, I'll say it like that, that goes in all areas of life, where most of them are "E"s, that's what you do. So really look at the sleeping habits, that you move a lot, so that the body is so influenced, and so on, drink a lot. So things that we try to implement in everyday life, as part of our longevity lifestyle. But what I found exciting was, so to speak, the food at the time, the food and drink. And that's what I said, I could do a detox diet. And then he just suggested what I could eat for the week. Me and the family, I said, should be things that fit for a whole family, and not just for one person, otherwise you just have to cook. And there came interesting reports, then I said, okay, that's kind of different than what I expected. I would have thought I'd just sip a few soups for the week or something. And no, that was really full-fledged times. And then I learned about Vitaly, that such a detoxification, especially from toxins from the environment, that you take in, that if you're poisoned with it, it's really important that you eat it, and really eat substantial things, especially because you need protein and ballast substances. I found that really interesting. And this diet, the diet in the beginning of this diet concept, what I was this week, I say that it had a focus on these cruciferous vegetables, that's a weird word. These are broccoli, cauliflower, cauliflower and so on. They help a lot with one phase of detoxification, a lot of bitter substances, a lot of herbs, as I said, proteins, a lot of ballast substances, and then really very, very few carbohydrates, and if then high complexes. So, and the focus, so that this detoxification works well, is actually this protein, because you need this amino acid. Proteins in our body, they can be broken down to amino acids, or we take amino acids, which then later are made into proteins, from which we do muscle. These are important, because by the detoxification that you do, you put these toxins in our parts, our bodies, and by certain substances that you take into account, for example, what I call cocoon, or other things that cause detoxification, these toxins are released again, from the body where they have flung. And they then move around in the body, and if you don't bind them to something, what you then dissociate, they move around in the body. And that's even worse, than if they're just docked to something in the body. That means, you basically have to take something with it, so that the cells release these toxins again, and then you have to give the body amino acids, which are free, and then absorb these toxins. And that's then transported, and then separated via the nears, the gills, or the gills. I find that quite interesting. That's why I never thought that, so to speak, toxins need to be flushed on top of something, and then transported out again. And it's the same with the balustrades. So the balustrades are also strongly needed, to absorb these toxins and release them again. Balustrades are also things that we take in, and then also release them right away. They don't even come into our blood vessels. So, and that's why I now have totally interesting recipes for the whole week. Also completely different things than I would normally cook. You have your standard dishes, which you do. But it's really delicious. We started yesterday and had a quinoa broccoli bowl with a tahini lemon dressing. That was totally delicious. Smells really delicious. And in the evening, there was a soup with so much cocoon in it. And coriander and, I think it was a sweet potato. I think it was in there. And both were really super delicious. And what I normally, so it's not in my stables, what I do like that. I'm really excited. Today, what did I have today? Today evening I have a quinoa broccoli avocado salad. I'm excited about that. And tomorrow is my smoothie. My, what did we call it? Golden Glow, we called it. Oh my God, I forgot it too. My favorite smoothie, which is in constant rotation now, the one I mentioned in the podcast here, which has a lot of berries in it, but also a citrus fruit with the peel. Because bitter substances are also great. And that's the breakfast, so to speak. It's the smoothie that survived. Then I can continue. At least it's great, just without, that's also interesting. Without the kefir, because it's completely lactose-free the week too and also vegetarian. So all the time here at the tofu and tempeh. So I find that very interesting. And let's see how it goes for me at the end of the week. And above all, I think it doesn't sound like so contentious or something, but just beautiful, colorful dishes that are just super delicious. And where you just expand the horizon a little bit with other recipes that you otherwise didn't make. Totally. As I said, my heart has tasted very well so far. The recipes also sound great. I think that worked well with the agent to plan it. So he said, "Oh, that's not what you mean." And then you have another proposal. And then he also gave me all the macros for every dish. Because I was interested in whether there really are enough proteins in it during the day and so on. So a lot of different things were discussed. And now I say, every morning I stand up and say, tell me the recipe now. He also made a shopping list, that was great. I then said, "Okay, for the whole week, please, spit out the shopping list." And that was crazy, to put that in. Then online to buy all the things. And well, what does it mean, not heavy. So heavy is already, because we are here right now in the country and harvest a lot of vegetables and fruit. A lot of fruit. And it will be made into a lot of apple cakes, for each cake, for each jam. And it smells like the whole day here in the house. After the coolest things. And these are exactly this week, not with the concept. Because sugar is of course also not in the detox week. But I already said, the one wonderful thing, we have such a straw cake, which we like to make super. We freeze it. I already said, it is frozen, then I will not freeze it next week. Then the fruit is celebrated, especially when it is frozen like that. I think it will get even cooler, because it is so really cool and juicy. You know, if we talk now, we will see each other this weekend. I think I will also give one in production for this weekend. Oh, I don't want to say no. So, for the After Detox Celebration. Very good. Yes, my What's New is, I think, exactly the opposite of detox. We are making both sides of the medal here today. I think everyone can take something with them, what I like. So, I already told you in my last or in my previous What's New, I don't know, a little bit, that I loved the Italian holiday very much, that I lived there with all my senses. And I lived a total, yes, such a full, sensual life. And that I also took the opportunity to take it with me here to Germany and to think about how I can do more here. And in this way, I read a very great book, which was recommended to me. And I would like to recommend that to you now. I have to say, I don't know if it's available in German, but I can already imagine that yes, you have to take a look. So, that means, I am mostly here to enjoy myself. One woman's pursuit of pleasure in Paris. So, I am actually mainly here to have fun. The search for a woman for pleasure, i.e. pleasure in Paris. The book is by Glynis McNickel. So, I think people who listen to this podcast, if there were still some tennis players in it, they would say, "Hey, that's Christine's book, that's what she wrote." That's what I wrote, right, tennis is missing in the book. That's a very hard minus. But otherwise, everything comes in it. So, in any case, I loved this book. It's really about such a woman with a 40, who travels to Paris for a month, to maximize the goal of pleasure. And then I thought, that's exactly my book. Yes, because you go there, too, it's a lot about the different senses and so on. And accordingly, if you want to make a real pleasure trip, then read this book, it's really cool. And of course, I then researched for the podcast how pleasure with longevity is linked together. I thought, that certainly has an influence, whether you have a kind of pleasure in your life or not. And here, in fact, most of the time, hedonism is examined. So the definition of hedonism is the struggle for pleasant feelings, joy and desire, as well as the experience of positive emotions. And here, in fact, there is relatively much evidence that hedonic well-being, so pleasure in life and so on, is connected with a better sterility, so to speak, with a lower sterility. It's a little less than purpose and meaning in life, but always. So it definitely has an influence on how long you live or how long you don't. And then I thought, that's interesting, because especially women, in our society, are actually more likely to take care of others, their families, their parents, maybe friends or friends, or of course the job, because today's women don't just have to work perfectly in the family, but also in the job. So it's a lot to the outside, where you have to constantly fulfill any needs that are applied to you. At least it's being transmitted to you from society. And now I've been asked, it's almost like a feminist act, if you only care about your own pleasure consciously. Definitely. So, highly feminist. And then I thought, that's cool. And then I thought, what can I do now? And now I've started to create a pleasure list. So that's just a note document, a Mac note document, where I just started writing everything down, what makes me pleasure. And while I started writing it down, I thought, it's crazy how many facets pleasure has. So wherever you can pull out all pleasure. So I personally think that pleasure is a bit sexually connotated. Maybe that's what it is, too. But actually, when you think about pleasure, you somehow think about sex and stuff. Tell me, how would you translate that into German? So what do you mean by that, in German? Genose. Genose, so passionate genose. So. But I think that English word pleasure is used in social media and so I think it's a bit sexually connotated. Yes, totally. And genose again, I think it's totally connotated with nutrition in German. Yes, yes, yes. Both have such a range that belongs to it. Yes, but you mean it's a lot more contemporary. Exactly. And then I noticed when I was writing it, it's just about a lot. It's not just about sex and not just about food, even if both come to mind, of course. But I brought a few examples of myself that I wanted to introduce to you, which is on my list, for example. So there's strawberries and cream. So he has berries with cream. Then there's a warm summer night. There's driving with loud music and singing. There's a huge bowl full of mussels with cheese that you then suck up the sauce with a white baguette. Say, is there a court in this local where we ate it once? I don't think there's a court in this local. I don't think there's a court in this local. But I think it's already such a trend to take mussels out again and so on. I think we should take a look at the search. Yes, because we always look at the search. We ate it once, I think six years ago or so, I would say. It was delicious. It was just godlike. So then it says "summer rain". Then it says "headings in a pool with few splashes". Then it says "fireplace". It says "a sofa with many boxes and covers and a great book". Then it says "to be in places where it is actually not adequate to be barefoot". It would be great to be barefoot at all. A 90s hip-hop concert or alone in the museum. These are a few things from my Pleasure List. The list has become infinitely long. I started it when I was walking next to my cell phone. There are hundreds of things in it, so many. It makes me so happy to write these lists alone. I don't know what to do with it yet, but I think it's great to write these lists alone. I thought I would be totally interested in what other people would have for their Pleasure List. That's why I would be very happy to write a few points in the comments of your Pleasure List, which you may also start or may not. But simply that we all gather a little bit and bathe in the different pleasure things that we may try out, maybe some of the lists never. But simply this thought of all possible people only thinks about how they prepare themselves for pleasure. Incidentally, something that must not be selfish. It can also do something good with other people, or something like that. If that can bring you pleasure, that's also possible. But it's really okay to really focus on yourself and what you just want and enjoy. Write a few comments. Yes, I think that's really nice. I think it's also interesting to think about it. You can reflect on it from your Pleasure List. How many of these things have you already done / experienced? And how many are, so to speak, concepts that you imagine that would bring you pleasure, but you haven't done it yet. Yes, yes, full. Yes, and maybe it's also good for some that they only stay in the concept. Because they taste the mussels in shit, and when they live with the poison, they don't say anything. Yes, how do you find the transition to vitality? Yes, that's a bit of a difficult task. So, it's all about that. Yes, okay, I'll try it like this. It's all about that you want to take the life with everything it has. Yes, that's a thing that drives us very much, Christina and me. And therefore, I think that's why we also found longevity. This wish to live this life for a long time, to make it cost a lot with all the senses. And there are helpers who can help us. That's all good to live through and to feel all the good things and not to feel the good things at once. And there is a new trend. The whole topic is mushrooms. And mushrooms with a function. Mushrooms that can do something, that give us a little more than anything else. And that's the vital mushroom. Medicinal mushrooms, that's what it's called in English, sounds kind of cool. I don't know, as always, but functional mushrooms, vital mushrooms. So, super mushrooms. There are, maybe you already know them, because it's really a hype, that here in Germany, or in the Dachau, it just starts to get really quiet. It's been in America for a few years now, the absolute thing in Australia. There are a lot of products where, like vital mushrooms, either as a powder, in a smoothie, for example, as extract in coffee, as capsules, in supplements, in so-called gummies, in all kinds of things, is integrated into products and people take it. And they are often promoted with certain healing and effective promises. That's of course a bit difficult, because really healing and effective can actually be done with medication. There are also quite large rules. So, but in the German-speaking room, the providers are a little more careful there, but there are certain tendencies what these mushrooms can do for one. And there it's about mushrooms, maybe you've already heard of raichii, or cordyceps, or lion's mane. And we want to look at this episode. What does it have to do with all these cool, wild names? Are these really very old healing substances that have an effect, that are relevant to our longevity, or is it just a trend that poisons? So, let's go through with you now and take a look at the most important ones. And let's start by defining what this is. Vital pills, high pills, medicinal pills, that's an attempt to take up medicinal mushrooms, I think. So these are pills that have a positive effect on your health. But be careful, this term "vital pills" is not protected legally. You could offer every pill and say it's a vital pill, because it's not a term that has any protection. But the downside to normal eating pills, which we tend to omit, is that in addition to the macros and the micros, which just have pills, it also has bioactive substances. So certain substances that affect the effects of health. And that's what a vital pill does. This is related to the term "adaptogens". You can also hear "adaptogens" everywhere at the moment. This is a category of all kinds of food or food supplementary substances that help to deal with stress. So, then it's an adaptogen. Does it mean that all vital pills are adaptogens? No. Because vital pills have different effects. They are often multifunctional, they do a lot of different things. But only some of them deal with stress or help with stress. Just like that, it's not like all adaptogens are vital pills. There are adaptogens, they are just natural substances that make the body more resistant to stress. And some of them are pills. But there are also other plants or animal products that go into that area. So, that's not the same, but it's related. But in this case, it's really about the vital pills, which are partly adaptogens and some of them do other things that don't have any stress at all. And that pills have such a special effect on us. That's nothing new now. It's really been used for centuries. Especially in traditional Chinese home medicine, in TCM. But already - and now you realize, that was a new fact for me - with the Glacier Moomie Ötzi. People from my generation will know what I mean by that. That's a Moomie they found. I think it was around when we were young. It was very exciting. And in all the pages, there was a Glacier Moomie. And with it, Bürgenporlinge was found. And Ötzi is about 5,300 years old. So, older. And that means that back then, people already knew that certain pills, certain functions, were used functionally. And today, scientists have more than 700 pills, on their pharmacological, so eventually medical effects have been examined. So it's really in the field that is super old and actually has been examined a lot. So, now let's take a look at what Vitalpilze does so special. So what's in there for a magic? By the way, apropos magic. We don't talk about these magic mushrooms here, right? Of course, there are also pills that do hallucinations. We have to get rid of that now. That's not about it. That would also be an interesting podcast topic. Kathi, you could do that for me too. Well, in any case, with the Vitalpilze, there is also a magic in it. There are outside of the macro and micronutrients, which are also in there. So there are also vitamins in there and minerals, for example, in the mushrooms, which is great. But what's special about it is the bioactive components. And these are mainly beta-glucane, triterpene and phenol or polyphenol. And we'll just take a look at what they do. The most important, as I said, beta-glucane, they are immunomodulatory. That means they have a positive effect on the immune system and are anti-inflammatory. So they are anti-inflammatory, so they have anti-inflammatory effects. Which is also great. Then there are the triterpene, which are neuro-protective. So they are good for the cognition, for the brain, just for the nerves. And last but not least, there are the polyphenol or phenol. And they are anti-oxidative again. And we have already talked about this in many podcasts, how great antioxidants are, because they catch the free radicals, which otherwise cause the cells to threaten and cause cell damage, which then leads to aging, for example. They are even partly antimicrobial and anti-viral. So they can harm the growth of bacteria and viruses. And it goes so far that there are actually very small studies that point to the fact that it is also meaningful to supplement here in addition to cancer therapy and cancer prevention. So there are really many positive effects of these bioactive components. However, you have to say to everyone that they have not yet been carried out in final human studies. In many cases, it is actually the case that they are only on the status of research of studies on cells or animals or something like that. And there are also first studies on humans, but not yet such a super broad study base, that you could now say to everyone that it is already final research. But there are, for example, the beta-glucanin-interesting human studies, which we have already chosen here. Not all of them, because there are some, but we have picked out a few, like, for example, in the field of infections. There are actually some clinical studies, also, for example, in children with respiratory infections, that have shown reduced symptoms, when they have taken these beta-glucanin-shaped pills. Often in combination with vitamin C. Yes, that's interesting. We have you in the episode that we last year made about infections and how to prevent it, that vitamin C, above all, only brings something for prevention, if you really take it in permanently. Yes, but here in the context with the pills, it probably had a very good success here. And there is also a meta-analysis, even with almost 700 patients who had stomach cancer or have. And here it was shown that a combination of chemotherapy and shiitake pills, that is, one of the vital pills, lead to a longer survival than if they had only done the chemo alone. It is assumed here that it happens through an immune activation. But, as I said, 650 patients are not yet a huge study. And of course we don't want to say at all, that you should start with cancer on the medical normal treatment, which consists of chemotherapy and then to skip it and instead of taking a pill. I think that's clear. But it just has the first indication that it can be supportive with cancer therapy, for example. And then there is another ingredient in these vital pills, which is really such a very hot candidate, if it's about longevity. And I was already afraid that I would have to pronounce this word. But here we go. This candidate is called L. ergotionein. I think that's how it's really pronounced. And why this is such a hot candidate is that there are actually long-term studies with people here. And there is a US study that went on for over 20 years, so really very, very long. And they regularly took pills. So just any pills, that's not clear right now. And they had a reduced mortality rate of about 16 percent. So a reduced mortality rate. Especially when pills have replaced the processed meat, then there was even a reduction of 35 percent. And in the vital pills, there are some where this L. ergotionein is very much in it. And it seems to play a big role here in the longevity effect of these pills. And that's why longevity is also called vitamin. And that's very interesting. The body can't produce this L. ergotionein by itself, but it has a special transport mechanism for it. That shows that it's interesting, even though it can't produce it light, there are still certain facilities in the cells that can transport the thing. And that shows how important it is for the body. And the highest concentration of this transporter is in such stressful swells. So swells that are particularly sensitive to stress. So apparently it has a particularly high importance there. And here it is assumed that the protection mechanisms are again this anti-oxidative and again this anti-intensive, which we have already mentioned above. And that protects the cells, but also the DNA and these telomeres, that is, these ends of the DNA. And there it is actually so that you can also see higher mirrors of this ergotionein. I really have to say 100,000 times. Correlate with fewer cardiovascular diseases, fewer demons, less Parkinson's and a lower total mortality. And lower mirrors of that, you can see in diseases, for example, like Parkinson's. So accordingly, this ergotionein is really a potentially very interesting longevity substance. We have already mentioned the evidence, but so far it is mainly correlative. So that doesn't mean that it is causal. So there are only connections, but it is not clear whether it really is the cause. So this correlative is mainly derived from observation studies. But of course, these long-term studies with 20 years is already a very relevant study. But these typical so clinical intervention studies, which you need to find out at that time, what is really causal now, they are still missing here. So, that's the end of the study in the biochemistry. We have now learned a lot of different substances that can be in so pills, that can have a certain effect, but you don't find that in any packaging or on any product side of a product that you look at. Therefore, it is more for you to understand what you will find if you look at these products, which contain vital pills, are the vital pills that are in there. There are these wild names on it, and that's why we'll go through them all in a moment, so that you understand what they do, what they do, or what effect is said to them. So that you understand if you have such a product, do you want more of the chaga or do you want more of the raishi or is the shiitake the thing for you? Now, we'll go through the top five vital pills and tell you very briefly what the effect should be on the individual pills. Let's start with the raishi. We call them the chill pill. So, that's the chili pill. Raishi is such a thing that makes you chill. Should reduce stress, climb up, is therefore also an adaptogen. We already discussed that, climb up. But it is also known that the immune system supports it very well and it is often recommended for sleep deprivation. Raishi is a chill pill. By the way, it is also considered a pill of mortality in the TCM. So, maybe a chill pill is especially longevity-friendly. The next is the shiitake. This is the heart helper. But shiitake can always think of such a small heart from now on. This makes a lot of good things available for the heart and also the immune system. It has also been used for hundreds of years in the TCM and maybe you know also the painkillers. People also like to eat shiitake pills. There is also a very cool human study in the area for the immune system. It was a randomized intervention study. People have eaten 5 or 10 grams of dried shiitake a day a day for four weeks. And after a month, the immune markers have improved and they have lower inflammation rates. And inflammation is maybe the origin of all the evil in us. Therefore, a little shiitake every day seems apparently to do something good if you want to do something for your immune system. Or, as I said, for the heart. So, the third is lion's mane. You always think of a lion's mane. It's also lion's mane. This is the brain booster. It is great for the brain, not only for the cognitive function of the brain, but also for the psyche. In addition to the lion's mane, you can always imagine a brain. It's a mushroom that has long hair-like elements. That's why it's called that. It looks cool. And it is really known for all the new protective and cognitive things. There are really some studies. One study from 2020 that we found was double blind placebo-controlled. That means that there is a very high quality grade in studies. Over 49 weeks, almost a whole year, three capsules of lion's mane were given to people. Which ones had the mild Alzheimer's. So, where the brain didn't work that well. And there was a improvement of the cognitive function in the previous tests. A stabilization or improvement of neurobiological markers. And a improved structure in the image. So, in the structure of the brain, you should have looked in. That's really cool. So, if I knew someone who has an approach to Alzheimer's, I would see if I could send the person a little lion's mane. Which products that have it. A second study that we found interesting, also randomized and placebo-controlled, that went on for four weeks, so much shorter. There were lion's mane cookies. As I said, you can do a lot of products with these vitals. Apparently also cookies. After taking a four-week intake of these cookies, a lower depression rate was recognized. A tendency for improvement in concentration problems, attractiveness, similarity. So, the whole topic of psychosis was the lion's mane. And in this study it is also successful. So, lion's mane is for the whole brain and for the psyche, apparently something cool. I'm already looking forward to it when I visit you for the first time. Come on, Gati and you. I have packed cookies. Photoshoots and all that stuff. Exactly, other people make marihuana cookies. We, in the longevity context, there are lion's mane cookies. And afterwards a cognitive test is absolved. Yes, that's right. Very good. We continue with the Cordyceps. This is also one of the top five vital fungi. And we called it the FitMacher. Because it is really great for regeneration, also for power, especially in the sports field, but also for the skin. And the Cordyceps is a fungi that actually falls into insects. And there are really many species that are known for it. And one of them is from the fungi of an infected rhino. Yes, so really crazy. And the nature field originally comes from the Tibetan highland. And it's really mega, mega expensive. 20,000 to 40,000 euros per kilogram. Holy shit. On the other hand, it takes such a truffle, especially too greedy. And that's why it's so cultivated over these insects, for example. And, exactly, with us, they are actually cultivated in the laboratory, which you can buy here, because otherwise everything else is way too expensive. And it supports, as I said, the physical ability to perform. Among other things, through the energy production. It can increase the ATP production. So, basically, this energy unit of the body. And so, for example, oxygen can be used better in the muscles. And here there were actually a few interesting studies. The one was really a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. So, really, the royal class of studies. With a few adults, there were only 28, but still very high quality. And they got 4 grams of Cordyceps per day. And they were tested on a bicycle thermometer after one or three weeks. And the bicycle thermometer is great to test this cardio-fitness, for example. And after one week, you had already seen a slight increase. And after three weeks, you really saw a significant increase, the so-called VO2 max. That's the unit or one of the best units to measure only cardio-fitness. I think that's great, after just three weeks of eating pills, that you have such a significant increase. It would be something for me, for people who just don't move the VO2 max all the time. So, an interesting thing to experiment with a little bit. And then there is another super study, which is also a human study. It's a whole new one from 2024, where it's about skin and age. And here it is so that there were 40 people. And they were wearing Cordyceps pills as cream on their skin twice a day for 28 days. So about a month. And then collagen, fold-ins, and the skin energy were measured. Whatever you miss. In any case, it was actually great, because the results are really great. The collagen formation could be increased by 10% after these 28 days. And the folds had reduced by 28%. That's the fold-in depth. So I think that's really promising. And if I have something for my good fitness and for my skin. Yes, why not, I would say. And then there's the chaga. The chaga is the antioxidant queen, or queen, depending on it. And maybe it can even be helpful with cancer. It's growing in very cold regions, and is really just so mega, mega full-fledged with antioxidants. It knows the so-called highest ORAC value. And ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity. That's basically a value in which antioxidant capacity is measured. And that's really the, so it has the highest value, so even higher than the Acai berries. The Acai berries also cut off very, very well. And that's why it's assumed that it can support cancer. But there are actually very few concrete and reliable studies about these pills so far. Therefore, of course, we don't recommend taking pills anywhere now, instead of cancer treatment, if you have cancer. But maybe that's what you could talk to a doctor or a doctor, whether it makes sense to take it in addition to yourself. Because generally, the effect of antioxidants is known, right? The protection against free radicals. And that's a good thing. So, now you have seen the five top vital pills briefly and what they have on them. But we have now researched a little more, what could still be a little underestimated pills, which maybe even have the potential to be officially taken as a vital pill at some point in the list. And here it is actually so that there are a few, like for example stone pills, external pills, herbs or shampions. And these are all pills that we use more or less regularly in Western nutrition. And they actually have pretty good, also antioxidant effects, because of this L-ergotionine, which I had already presented. So there are great options for it. But they are mostly not as versatile and also not as deeply underestimated as the classic vital pills that we call up there. Because for them, the special thing, you certainly noticed when we presented it, is that they can often be very versatile, like immune system effects and stress loss or something like that. And that's not so versatile for those up here called stone pills, external pills, herbs or shampions, but also very good antioxidant effects. That's why it's very worthwhile to simply build them into the daily diet. And maybe just experiment more often with different pills, when you're cooking. So, what's not yet clear is, as I said, large-scale human studies. So there's just not enough of all of this yet. And it's also difficult to really show the real mechanism behind this biological activity. And of course, there's also the problem that there are different effects concentrations. Depending on the type of pills, but also within a type of pills, depending on how they grew, how they were processed and so on. And that's what makes all these pills a standardization and also a comparison. But we've prepared for you later in the podcast, how you can recognize what a good quality is to at least deal with some of these problems. Yes, we have here again the general problem that we often have in longevity, that you're still in an experimental status. These are things that are very exciting and are potentially exciting. But it's not final proof that it really is. It's because longevity is just extended to life. And until you've proven that something at an intervention, especially when it comes to nutrition, is really almost impossible to extend life. And it takes forever, so it's just a big question mark. On the other hand, it doesn't mean that they're useless. It's just not final proof. And we've thought about some studies, but in many areas there simply weren't any studies about the pills. So we didn't mention that there really wasn't one where we'd say, "That's it." But if you look back at the story, pills have often shown that they have a lot of power. For example, that was new to me too. The pills that were often included in the production of penicillin, for example. That was the first antibiotic there was. So you can see how strong the pills can be. And there will always be new types of pills. And what I think is especially convincing is that, at least in the five that we presented today, the risk, if you take them in a conventional dose, is negligible. That's not the case. You have to weigh down longevity things that are still experimental for yourself. What is my own risk preference? So, I'd like to be risky for a potential benefit and a potential positive effect that has something. And there will be some people who are very risk-friendly and no matter what kind of benefit it is, they will try everything out, what there is. And other people will be very afraid and no matter how great it sounds, before the final proof is that they don't take it at all. And that's totally fine. You just have to know your own risk preference. And here at Pilsen it is at least so that the risk, at least the five that we presented, really seems to be negligible. There is no major evidence that it would be particularly harmful to health, or somewhat suspicious. And that's why we can experiment with it to see if it fits all of us. Even if you don't know if that was really so final until today. Of course, you still have to say, and Christine has already mentioned, that it is never allowed to replace a medical treatment, not only with cancer, but also generally not. If you have serious medical problems, you should always discuss them with doctors and let them treat you. We see Vital Pilsen, honestly, more as a preventive topic in the longevity context. If you want to give yourself something extra. That is, as I said, no protected term. So just because Vital Pilsen is on it, you don't know what's in it at all. It really looks pure what's in there. And of course, there are theoretically changes in the effects of medications. So, for example, if you take blood pressure, or cholesterol, or immunosuppressant, because you are in treatment and the immune system can have all these changes. That means, if you are in medical treatment and you want to take that only preventive, please let go of it with doctors and doctors. And in general, of course, you just have to see, are good products. I have a qualitatively high-quality product here, and then we have a small checklist for you all, but it is very similar, I think, as we have shown you, to our general recommendation when it comes to nutrition supplementation. That is also simply a field where it is just particularly important that you find a good provider there, a good provider. And that's why we would follow Vital Pilsen's advice if you take a look at the products. First of all, is there a supply where the product comes from? That has to be clear. It shows that it is transparent, that you probably have a serious offer. It is now about the fact that we say that it has to come from Europe. That is of course particularly good, because we know that the production situation here in Europe is partly significantly higher than in other countries, but that you just know who you have to turn to in this product, there is actually a serious offer behind it. The second is independent laboratory analysis. Here, too, these products are tested on purity, for example, so that they do not have certain heavy metals or other harmful substances in them. They are tested on the fact that the ingredients are actually inside that are given. And that can be often seen by serious manufacturers, just by looking at them on the website, that they can be tested on certain charges and then also make the analyses available so that you can look at them. And there you can, as I said, heavy metals should be on top of it or other loads with some kind of microbiological substance such as coal or salmonella or something like that, or just the ingredients. So you should always look at that the ingredients list is also exactly the same. In the context of PILZEN, it is good if you can see that from the extracts, that is, if there are extracts that you want to take to you, that the ingredients are how concentrated it is. Yes, there could, for example, be ingredients like over 30% polysaccharide or over 1% triterpene. These are the ingredients that Christine originally called, which are in these pills. And you can see a little bit how highly concentrated the product is. Is there only this fairy dust thing, so a very small little bit of the thing sprinkled in, so to speak, that I can say it's a vital pill product. Or is it really one where there is such a high amount of ingredients that can actually bring something. Then, of course, the general application of providers has a professional and transparent website, there are background information, there is a customer service, there is an impression. Yes, how long does a manufacturer have? You often recognize websites, is that really something serious or not? Is there, I don't know, for example, customer feedback from the platform that can somehow trust such things? And especially in the context of additional means, or here in the pills area, of course, a bio-certification can be totally useful. Simply because it's a plant, or no, it's not a plant, it's a pill. But when the pill grows, it's also great if there are no pesticides on it that we don't want to have there. And that helps, of course, if you have a bio-certification. So, and if you are now starting to deal with what there are for variants of pills and how you can buy them, you would probably notice that there are different forms. And there are actually also quality differences and which ones you should prefer. And that's what's probably the most common, or is the whole thing as a powder. Yes, that already has the whole spectrum of the ingredients, there are also ballast ingredients in it, or a few vitamins, vitamins and so on. But that's usually relatively low dosage and the bio-certification, so as it can be absorbed in the body, is usually a little limited. On the other hand, you can use a flexible dosage, in smoothies, in stirs, or yoghurt, or something like that. But what a higher bio-certification is, and therefore also, yes, of course, if it has a good quality, has a higher quality for the body, is an extract. So these are liquidities where these things are dissolved. And that can be used much, much better from the body. And they can also be dosated well, you can just give certain drops or certain amounts of liquidity to something. But they are really much more expensive than the powder, but help more. And then there are capsules, you can then maybe take them as a target dose per day. But these are the main differences. And then of course there is the possibility to eat whole mushrooms. Yes, that doesn't work with all vital mushrooms, but for example in ski days it works with lion's mane, it works too. You could also take them as edible mushrooms. But they actually have a bad bio-certification, so they can be used badly by the body as an extract. So, after we know which qualities they have, which forms they have, and so on, we thought we'd take a few very concrete use cases out of them. So, some possible problems that you might have or questions you may have. And we want to give you some tips on which mushrooms you can experiment with. So, the first topic is sleep and recovery. So if you have problems with your sleep or to recover yourself, then we recommend you try Rai-Ski. We have presented it as the "Chill Pilz". You can test it there. With the whole topic of stress management and mental health, so maybe if you are in a stressful phase or in an emotionally challenging situation, then you can help Rai-Ski on the one hand to support stress management, but also the "Lions Main Pilz". Because we have already learned that the "Pilz" is for the brain and also for the mental health for the support here. So accordingly, that could be an option. If you notice that you are constantly sick or if you notice that the cooling time is coming soon, like it is now, unfortunately, soon again, then you could just take a few of these "Pilz" prophylactically. And of course, for cooling time, prophylactically, it is also good to take vitamin C. But as I said, for immune system support, we would especially recommend "Ski-Take" and Rai-Ski. If you are now preparing for a sports event like a marathon run, or have a special competition or something like that, or if you are working on a huge project at the end of the year, or something like that, or you are just going through a test phase and really know where you need a lot of energy for a couple of weeks, then the "Cordy Saps" is your "Pilz". And last but not least, the whole topic like "Healthy Aging", "Anti-Inflammation", "Anti-Inzündlichkeit", if you actually want to age well, then we have already learned that "Cjaga" is fully equipped with antioxidants. That is a good option. But also the "Cordy Saps", we have presented you the study, that is also to wear the skin as a cream. That is also a good option. But you already know from our description that many of the other "Vetal Pilz" also contain a lot of antioxidants and even the whole "Pilz" that we counted, "Champions" and so on, also fully with antioxidants. Time for a conclusion to the topic "Vetal Pilz". So I think we are already a little bit, right? It is not a sentence for medication. It is also not a general recommendation that each one has to take it. And it is logically not the first thing we would do from our longevity. There are already some other things that are important before you deal with "Vetal Pilz". But why not? So we sort that out a little bit, how we generally look at nutritional supplements. There are some that we really see as very essential in this area, where there is also a chronic deficiency. In Germany, for example, there is vitamin D or omega 3. With women, there are things where we say, "Okay, you have to take a look together with your doctor." And then there are other things where you can say, "Yes, you can, if you want to do certain other things to promote your health, take even more." And there we would put the "Vetal Pilz" in. And we believe that it makes sense to look at which use cases I have, maybe the one that Christine just presented, or which one that is based on the description of the "Vetal Pilz", somehow let you think, "Oh, yes, that could be me." And there you can always just try out the products and just test more. Just test a few weeks, whether you feel a difference there and then either let it be or continue. So it's rather a treat, a little extra, a little something for yourself, but it can have really great effects. And there are also a lot of people telling me about it. I personally take a "Vetal Pilz" daily product and think it's great. And after we have prepared this episode, I have two others on my list that have to be necessarily integrated or have to be tried out. That means that I am actually very happy with it. Exactly. And I have also actually tried a few times as a concentrator and for a while, when I had some problems to sleep, I took them before I went to sleep. And that really helped me with the impression that it helps well. So I also made very positive experiences. I don't take it for a long time now, but at least in such phases, where you have the feeling that you might need an extra push or an extra boost, it can definitely be a good option. Yes. And our Let's Go is today. There are really so many products that pop up in this area and are new there. And we don't have such an overview yet. That means, please write in the comments with us, for example, at Spotify. If you know anything there, maybe use something, what are your experiences with it? So please put some product tips or hints in the comments. I'm really excited to get to know a few things there. And now there is just one more look at the next week. And I'm looking forward to it. This is a follow-up that I actually have been waiting for since we made the podcast. Because it's a total passion topic. And that's the whole topic of the brain. Brain health. How do we keep our brain fit? How do we do that? Of course, you can talk about it for three million years, but we'll do a focus intro episode about it. For the health of the brain health, that's coming next week. And we're looking forward to hearing you there again. So until then, tschüssi. Tschüssi. Tschüssi.
