079 Power Pocket: Soft and Soaring

In this Power Pocket episode, Dr. Likishana Cole reflects on the societal pressure on women to equate strength with endurance and constant resilience. She questions whether this identity is truly desirable, as it often leads to a life of survival rather than thriving. Instead, she advocates for building an identity around softness and support, noting that she wants to be known for being supported rather than resilient. To help others explore this shift, she announces the "Soft and Soaring Reset," a free five-day series starting June 29th on her Instagram and Facebook stories. The series will guide participants through topics such as slowing down without guilt, surrendering control, getting honest about personal needs, and releasing the habit of forcing outcomes. It aims to help women move from over-functioning and exhaustion to a more aligned, spacious, and joyful life. Dr. Cole emphasizes that softness is not weakness but a pathway to hearing more clearly and living wisely. The reset is designed as a gentle, reflective invitation to exhale and reconnect with oneself, with the promise that from this place, women can begin to soar rather than just survive. She encourages listeners to follow her on social media to join the journey.

This is Dr. Likishana Cole and my sister and I are still connecting with you all through these Power Pocket episodes while our lives settle down a little bit. Today I want to invite you to something I've been reflecting on a little more deeply lately. Something that you've heard us talk about before and a couple of episodes. But again, I've been digging in a little bit deeper. And I think many of us, especially women, have been taught that strength looks like endurance. Like being the one who holds everything together, the one who doesn't fall apart. The one who keeps going even when everything inside is asking for rest. And we get praise for that, right? We get caught strong, we get caught resilient, capable. But I've been pondering the question, what if I don't want to be caught resilient anymore? Not because resilience is bad, but because I don't want a life that requires constant survival. I don't want my identity to be built around how I can recover from being stretched to thin. And I wonder if that resonates with any of you. So for me, it's like, what if I want to build my identity around softness? What if I want people to be in all of my support versus being in all of my resilience? You know, rather than while you're so resilient, more like while you're so supported. And again, it's something that I've been thinking about more deeply lately, in part because I've received a lot of support during this hard to season in my life that I've navigated through, but also because softness has just been calling to me more and more. Not to say that I don't want to be resilient when I have to, but it's the support and the softness that I want to be on display exceedingly more than my resilience. I want a life where I'm not just surviving. And I wonder if you too want a life where you're not just surviving what you're going through, but actually feel supported while you're going through it and even feel like you're soaring as you're going through it. So I created something called the soft and soaring reset. And I personally want to invite you to it. Starting next week, the week of June 29th, I'm running a five day series through my social media stories, both on Instagram and on Facebook, where we're going to explore what it looks like to step out of over functioning and to step into a different rhythm of living. We're going to talk about things like slowing down without guilt and learning how to surrender what you can't control, getting honest about what you actually need, releasing the habit of forcing everything in your life, and learning how to live in a way that feels more aligned, more supported and more spacious. You know, like that joyful, expansive life. And it's not going to be a fixture whole life in five days kind of thing, but it's more like a gentle comeback to yourself. I believe that softness is actually a part of what makes us hear more clearly to move more wisely and to live from alignment instead of exhaustion. And from that place, we don't just survive. We start to soar. All right, so if you've been feeling stretched or tired or like you've been carrying too much for too long, I want you to join me next week Monday through Friday and my stories for soft and soaring. You can follow along on my Instagram by following me at Queen Dr. Life. That's Queen DR Life. If you're connected to me on Facebook, it'll be there as well. It'll be simple, it'll be reflective, and it might just feel like the exhale you didn't even know you were holding. I'd love to have you come along on this journey with me because growth loves company. Bam.
